The T20 world cup is all set to begin on the 17th of October 2021. The finals will be on the 14th of November, 2021. Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will witness this tournament. Initially, Australia was the place decided, but in July 2020, the ICC decided to postpone the game because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

So in August, the ICC decided to conduct the match in India as planned. It was unsure about the tournament because of the rising cases of the Covid 19 pandemic and the possibility of a third wave. But the ICC held it in the UAE without any difficulty.

If we talk about the most significant clash this tournament could see, it would be none other than a match between India and Pakistan. Both the arch-nemesis are a part of Group 2, along with New Zealand and Afghanistan. 

India and Pakistan have battled with each other eight times in the history of T20. In the T20 worldcup, India has managed to dominate Pakistan. India won five of the matches during its encounter with Pakistan. The only time Pakistan has achieved a win against India was in the year 2012.

2012 T20 World Cup

This match in Sri Lanka turned out to be in favor of India. The Indian team managed to take down all Pakistan’sPakistan’s players for 128 runs. Laxmipathy Balaji fetched three wickets. Virat Kohli managed to score 78 runs off 61 balls. 

2014 T20 World Cup

Held in Dhaka, The Pakistan team scored 130 runs with three wickets left in the tournament. India managed to have a stronghold on its competitor. India dominated Pakistan by finishing the game with nine balls still left.

2016 T20 World Cup

ICC held the 2016 world cup in India. India had to sustain a defeat against New Zealand, which left them in a tough spot. Their next game was against Pakistan at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The match got short to 18 overs due to rain.

Pakistan made 118 runs at a loss of 5 wickets. They made a great start with the ball where India managed to score 23 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 4.4 overs. Then Virat Kohli stepped in and proved to be a game-changer. He made a victorious 55 runs off 37 balls. India managed to win the match in 15.5 overs.
